Ramblings from my Morning

A few weeks ago our pastor brought up the political side of being a Christian. Which of course led to the judgement of the world talk. I think those of us that have grown up in the Church know what I mean. We have heard before that as Christians we are not here to judge but to love others as Christ loves us.

Kinda a blow to the head isn't it?

So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.
John 13:34 NLT

I cannot say that I have always done this or that I am good at it, but I have felt the urge and conviction to follow this teaching. I have heard people look down on Christians because of our behavior so many times, and that my friends is a real heart breaker. How are we suppose to reach those around us if our lives are being lived so stupidly? (yes, I may have just made up a word) I personally have had people tell me that they do not want to be like their "So called Christian acquaintances." And sadly I see where they are coming from.

I myself have been that "So called Christian" before.  When you grow up in the church it isn't really a matter of "if" it is more of a matter of "when." Or at least that was how it was viewed where I grew up. I am not saying this is necessarily a bad thing, but until I whole heartedly committed myself to my faith and to God my life was more of a "So Called" Christian style. Since then I have really had it on my heart to leave the judging to the only ONE pure enough to do so and just try to love with Christ's Love.

Thats when my morning reading came in...

16- "For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

17- God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him."

Verse 17 is really what hit me. Jesus was not even here to judge us! What! He was the perfect Lamb of God sent here to save us from these deathly lives we lead and not even He was here to judge others. Ok, seriously think about that one. In my mind Jesus had every right to make a list, check it twice and let God know who was on the naughty list for his time on earth.

After really meditating on this verse I just felt like I had to share my thoughts. It is just mind blowing when you think about it. If Jesus was not here to judge, then we as meager humans have absolutely, positively no right what so ever to be judging the people we meet, we work with and we love. Yep, I said it. Not our place. We were sent to show the world the Love that Christ has shown us and He sent his son to die for our lives. Beat that.

  1. I love this !!! Thanks for the great reminder! This election 'season' has been one of the most challenging I can remember in my almost 50 years. On a recent Sunday, we attended an unfamiliar church and heard the MOST amazing sermon about politics. EVER! The first 30 minutes provides a great foundation, but the last 10 minutes about knocked my socks off! Here it is if your inclined to listen.. http://www.graceb3.org/resources/sermons/following-jesus/10-07-2012/

    Enjoy!
